Ohio State’s EcoCar Team Turning Growly 2016 Camaro into Nearly Silent Hybrid

The words sound almost sacrilegious: Silent Hybrid Camaro.

While we have different goals with The Fireball Camaro: Power, Speed and Sound … our hats go off to these folks! Pretty cool!

The Ohio State University’s EcoCar 3 team just took delivery of a 2016 Camaro and is turning it into a plug-in hybrid.

The vehicle will have an electric motor with a range of 40 miles that makes almost no sound. It also will be able to switch to a gasoline engine that runs on E-85.

The 2016 is rated at 19 mpg city and 28 highway. Once the students are done, their goal is to make the car get the equivalent of 60 mpg.
